Cape Town Workshop Faculty of Law, University of Cape Town
In April 2025, the project convened a one-day workshop at the Faculty of Law, University of Cape Town. The event was convened by the Centre for Comparative Law in Africa (CCLA), University of Cape Town, in partnership with the University of Derby.
The workshop fostered interdisciplinary dialogue and facilitated the exchange of ideas on effective approaches to implementing the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).
Commissioner Sandra Makoasha of the South African Human Rights Commission participated in the workshop. Her presentation emphasised the need for technology companies to adopt a human rights-focused approach in relation to end users.
The event brought together scholars and institutional participants to engage with Global South perspectives in business and human rights scholarship and to strengthen research networks across regions.
